Summer vacation as a pre-teen. Playing outside all day, time at the beach or running through the sprinklers, climbing trees, reading on a blanket in the yard, picnic lunches. ...
I recently took a trip to Maryland for two weeks! Though the trip was for medical reasons, I remember I felt so free and alive just exploring and being in nature in a place away from home- sometimes even a small trip in the same state can put me in that same frame of mind, where my responsibilities fall away for a little while.
Last weekend! We finally had a weekend with no plans and it was just what the doctor ordered - farmers market, dog park, a lazy lunch with my son and early bedtime. The BEST!
Way, way too long ago …. But either surfing 🏄♀️ in Pacifc city Oregon with my girls or on the Salmon river rafting…. The waves and no phones always help!!!
I feel carefree on the weekends, when I am doing the things I love (yoga, meditation, Pickleball, cooking, hanging with friends)- then comes Monday, it all goes haywire due to work! The goal is to make my weekdays more carefree!
When my daughter was in middle school, we spent two weeks each summer at a friend's summer house in Cape Cod. Seven women ages 3-60ish spending mornings on the beach watching seals, afternoons poking through stores and people watching, and evenings enjoying relaxed dinners on the deck watching fireflies. No schedule, just leisurely days of friendship, fun, and nature.
When I was happy in my marriage. I remember falling asleep and saying that I was living a fairy tale. I am trying to get back to that state of pure bliss.

Last Summer cycling along the Lachine Canal in Montreal. I'd never been there before, so I looked at everything with childlike wonder.

Just swimming at the local pool or reading my back patio!

The last time I felt carefree was camping at the beach with no cell service 🏕️🌊☀️
