Last spring, for the entire month of May, my youngest would tell me each night as I tucked him in bed how he couldn't wait for school to be out—how bored he was in class, how excited he was for summer. So, the night before the last day of school, I announced, "Tomorrow is the last day you'll ever be a third grader!" He burst into tears—which made me cry, too.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how this feeling—of time slipping through our fingers—isn’t just about schedules. It’s about how we move through life. Always rushing. Always behind. And ironically, it’s often our rest that gets sacrificed first.
Good sleep, an intentional wind-down routine, giving ourselves real recovery time—these are the foundations of a life that feels spacious, not just productive. They’re also the first things to go when we’re stuck in “go mode.”
