An Easy End-of-Summer Dinner Party Menu
Spicy margaritas, best guac of your life, shrimp tacos, and a 4-ingredient summer dessert.
August always feels like a season of in-betweens. We’re picking up school supplies and easing into fall routines—but the days are still long, zucchini and tomatoes are at their peak, and (at least in Austin) it’s way too hot to even think about wearing jeans.
Which is why I love hosting a relaxed backyard dinner this time of year. Everyone’s back from their summer travels and craving connection, and it’s the perfect excuse to soak up the last stretch of the season with good food and great friends.
Today's menu is made for that kind of night: barefoot on the patio, cold drinks in hand, and a table that’s abundant but unfussy. Tacos, spicy margs, guac—the works. It’s casual, colorful, and lets alll the summer produce shine.
Keep reading for my tried-and-tested taco night menu, signature spicy margarita, the best guac you’ve ever tasted, and an insanely good 4-ingredient dessert to end things on a sweet note. Plus, how I prep it ahead so I can actually relax and enjoy the night!
On the Menu
Spicy Margaritas
Street Corn Guacamole
Spicy Watermelon Feta Salad
Shrimp Tacos with Grapefruit-Avocado Salsa
Grilled Peaches with Honey
Spicy Margaritas
This is hands-down my favorite cocktail—fresh lime juice, a splash of orange juice, and a Tajín rim for just the right amount of kick.
