Here’s what’s in today’s post:

– My 6 am-to-9 am flow
– The books currently on my nightstand
– My protein-forward breakfast on repeat
– The mindset shift that made consistency feel effortless and actually fun

Happy weekend, everyone. Adam and I took a quick trip to LA this week to get some work done and check on our renovation progress. Things are really moving along, and we’re on track for it to be completed in May, which means all I can think about is a Malibu summer. We’ve settled into a nice little routine on these monthly trips to meet with our builder. Take the 7:20 flight from Austin. Hop in our rental car at LAX, grab smoothies and THE kale salad from Erewhon, then drive out to Malibu with the windows down.

Since the house is fully under construction, we’ve been staying at Hotel June when we do these quick trips—it’s a cozy boutique hotel about a half mile from the house that’s also around the corner from our favorite beaches. It’s starting to feel like a home away from home, but I can't wait for when I'll be sleeping in my own bed out there—truly the moment I've been dreaming about through this whole renovation journey.

I share a lot with you guys about my morning routine because it’s honestly my number one “secret” to starting the day feeling grounded and clear. It’s THE power hour, and I stay consistent with it not because I’m rigid about it—but because I genuinely love it and look forward to it every single day.

Here’s the thing: I’ve come to believe that’s the real key to consistency with any wellness habit. You have to actually like it. We’re never going to stick with something we dread. And if you want to start getting up earlier and creating more intentional mornings, the goal is to craft it in a way that feels nourishing and cozy to YOU. So that’s what I’m sharing today—hopefully you’ll find some ideas to steal for your own.

I also realized that my routine has shifted since I last wrote about it, because we’re ever-evolving humans, and our habits can evolve right along with us. Small tweaks—like a new book you’re reading or a fresh playlist or even a new mug for your coffee—can inject some real excitement into your mornings and make you actually want to hop out of bed when that alarm goes off.

For me, adopting our golden retriever puppy, Charlie, forced some updates. Getting up a little earlier to let her outside, feeding her, and taking lots of pauses between journaling and reading for cuddles and kisses.

I also love peeking into the mornings of women I admire, which is what inspired our Wake Up Call series (see Bobbi Brown, Diana Cohen, Melanie Massarin). So, in the spirit of loving our mornings and making them a treat yourself moment that also sets us up for our best day ahead, I’m answering my own Wake Up Call questions today, from my reading list to my skincare lineup and why I’ve gone back to eating breakfast every day.
