10 Books To Unlock Your Creativity
A library of mindset shifts that could actually change your life.
There are days when my creative energy is on fire—ideas are flowing and my energy is dialed in. And then there are... the other days. Those mornings when I feel buried under a to-do list, yet I still mysteriously waste time scrolling Instagram. (Don’t tell me you haven’t done it!!)
I used to try to push through that feeling, but it always resulted in subpar work that I had to go back and redo anyway. So, I’ve learned to let myself take a beat. To step away from the screen and feed my body, mind, and soul with what it needs to feel replenished. Sometimes that’s a solo walk in nature, and sometimes it’s letting myself take an hour to flip through the stack of books that live on the table next to my desk. These are the books I’ve curated through the years to bring me back to my creative purpose. They remind me that the whole point of all of this is to bring something of beauty or value or truth to the world.
I think of this collection as my secret arsenal against creative stagnation. I’ve always loved surrounding myself with books that inspire me to elevate out of the daily grind and back into a place of wonder—when I was in my teens, I picked up my mom’s copy of Simple Abundance and felt like I’d unlocked a whole new world of beauty (more on that one below). Though these are wide-ranging in topic, each of these books speaks into my soul—artists, poets, and thinkers who remind me there’s more to life than my to-do list. They help me slow down my racing thoughts, and I almost always leave with new clarity about the next right step.
So today, I’m sharing the books I turn to when I need to feel inspired, grounded, and creatively recharged.
